Who We Help:
A summary of requests for information from members of the public

Mount Alexander CIC collects non-identifying statistics about its clients and the nature of their requests for information and support.

During the past year (1999/2000) there were enquiries from 3,400 people seeking information and support.

Community Organisations and Facilities
The most communitv organisations and facilities frequently used category was for information about community organisations and facilities such as contact details of community centres/groups, learning centres; churches; government services and statutory authorities; agencies who accept volunteers.

Next is Transport and Communication.
Communication facilities include availability of computers, Internet, email, fax services; mass media, newsletters, advertising.

Transport refers to driver education services, public transport, licensing and relations, transport. for people With special needs (disabled, parking permits,multi purpose taxis,volunteer drivers, school transport)

Recreation, the next most requested category, refers to arts and crafts, social clubs, sports, hobbies, recreation facilities.

Next came request for information on Support Services - for specific conditions such as problem gambling, drug dependency, alcoholism, companionship, home services, care (including respite and emergency care), counselling services, mediation, self-help groups, practical personal services like help with filling in forms, supportive listening.
