Members of the Central Victorian Macintosh User Group recently celebrated their 10th anniversary with a special film and supper night.

Club President Bruce Carruthers started the night off with a short presentation of the history of the club and of Apple computers. This was followed by the film Pirates of Silicone Valley a story of the beginnings of Apple and Microsoft. During the interval a substantial supper was served during which members socialised and took in the display of earlier Apple Mac computers. Founding member Danny Silver, a local Doctor started the club 10 years ago, after a number of of his patients who visited his surgery noticed the Macintosh computers in reception. They not only sought medical advice but also advice on their own computers. The club retains a loyal and enthusiastic membership and has helped many people with their computer related problems. Despite rising insurance costs that account for about 90% of the membership fees, the club remains strong and provides a valuable service to its members. Members come from the immediate Castlemaine district, as well as from places such as Bendigo, Kyneton, Daylesford, Macedon etc. Meetings comprise of a regular question & answer forum as well as interesting topics & demonstrations of hardwear and applications in current use. The club meets on the 4th Thursday of each month, 7.30pm at the Salvation Army Hall in Kennedy St Castlemaine.
